Term Casual Appointment
The Dunlap Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics is currently accepting applications for a casual position to provide support to the Public Outreach Coordinator and Events Officer to develop video content for the Dunlap Institute YouTube channel under the Cosmos from Your Couch program.
Duties include:
- Work with Public Outreach Coordinator to choose and recruit speakers for social media videos
- Develop draft interview questions for videos
- Schedule film shoots
- Assist Public Outreach Coordinator and Events Officer to film videos
- Edit video using Premiere Pro
- Post videos on social media
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Degree in Astronomy
Skills:
- Authoritative knowledge of a broad range of astronomical concepts
- Strong and continually updated knowledge of current events and discoveries in astronomy
- Ability to translate technical astronomy concepts into a form that appeals to non-experts
- Demonstrated sensitivity to issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Strong time management skills
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and aesthetics in the context of content creation
- Experience with cameras, microphones, and studio lighting is an asset, but not required
- Experience editing video in Adobe Premier Pro is an asset, but not required
Job Posting Date: July 16th, 2021
Job Closing Date: August 3rd, 2021
Hours of Work: approximately 5 hours a week as needed
Duration: 6 months term position
Hourly Rate: $28 per hour, including 4% vacation pay
