Welcome to Qing Liu's personal webpage

I am a doctoral student in the Department of Astronomy & Astrophysics at University of Toronto. I have received my bachelor degree at Univ. of Sci. & Tech. of China (USTC) in 2018. I was born in Shanghai, a city with fascination and glamour.

My research interests cover wide aspects but concentrate on galaxies, from galaxy formation and evolution to their morphologies, stellar populations, physical properties and star-forming activities in them. Using the CANDELS survey and the MANGA survey, I have research projects on galaxies near and far, from z~2.5 to 0. I have extensive experiences in manipulating data, e.g. basic image reduction & calibration, handling diverse catalogs, SED/line fitting, etc. I am interested in applications of modern statistics and computer science in astronomy (so-called 'Astrostatistics' or'Astroinformatics').

My name (pronunced like ‘Chin Leo’ in English) is homophonic in Chinese to the first & last characters of the famous sentence "留取丹心照汗青" from an ancient poem, which means "To illuminate the history".
